The course is designed to improve students’ English proficiency, primarily emphasizing speaking skills at specific levels of English language proficiency. The following language areas are targeted: speaking accuracy, fluency, vocabulary development, reading and listening skills development. These areas are practiced through various speaking activities including, but not limited to, individual and group activities, students work on improving pronunciation, practicing conversation strategies, and delivering oral presentations, retelling and presenting news stories. As students prepare for the assignments, they are expected to watch, listen to, and read many authentic materials relevant to their professional and personal interests. The content of the course is tailored to students’ needs.
The teaching process is full of meaningful real-life conversations, interactive role plays, dialogues, case studies, debates, teaching how to use electronic tools, etc. The topics are aligned to the student’s needs considering the student’s professional and individual needs. Grammar isn’t neglected as well. Grammar assignments are provided according to students’ preferences and needs, as well as whenever it’s considered a necessity noticed by the teacher.
